Dear Friend

Dear Friend,
If you hit the lottery or get a big promotion or marry a very rich man and want to gift me for the beauty of my friendship. Gift me this extronarily fabulous, $2,100 mirror. If any of the above things happen to you, remember me, you peacock Wisteria mirror loving friend. Pure fabulous!

Side Tables

I have recently bought side tables for the master bedroom and pics will be coming soon. However, with other bedrooms to decorate I am still on the hunt for fun side tables for the guest rooms.
One of the guest room, I have a vision of an all black and white room for one of the guest rooms. How chic would these tables be to compliment that decor theme?

Float My Fancy

I have now moved on to looking for shelving to hang up behind the desk for displaying pictures and possible additional storage. Floating shelves is a natural choice but I don't want plain, boring, big box store floating shelves. In my search to find something different, I came across a really cool home decor website call Brocade Home. They have a good selection of affordable fabulousness. Here are a few of my favorites.

Love these shelves for pictures

Fabulous for wall inbox/outbox or magazines

Not shelving, but how fabulous are these frames?

Mirror, Mirror on the ....Desk?

I absolutely love the glam of mirrored furniture. I initially wanted mirrored side tables but the hubby felt it would make the room too feminine. So that was icksnayed. Then I was going to put them in the guest room, but the expense of the tables vs. the usage of the room didn't make sense to me. So today while poking around the internet I came across a picture of a beautiful offices with a mirrored desks.

Nighty Night....Stand

I am looking for the perfect nightstands which is quite a task considering I don't have a vision for the overall aesthetic of the room. However what I do know is that I don't want traditional side tables that look like they are two pieces out of a 25 piece bedroom set. So in my quest to feel like I am at a hotel everytime I walk into my bedroom, I came up with the idea of floating nightstands. I love the clean lines and the simplicity of them. With just enough space for a lamp, your phone and book. Here a few I think are a little piece of bedroom fab.

Desire to be Inspired

I am all over the place with inspiration for the bedroom. I initially wanted to do all white bedding but the maintenence is beyond the scope of what I would realistically be willing to do. So the search for affordable fabulousity pretty much have me at a dead end. We have a California King so I spent a good two months looking for California King comforters and duvet covers and of course in my favorite discount stores the largest they have is King. Last week I went to Dillards and found out that most King and California King comforters are the same dimensions 101x96, who would have thought? So at least I feel like a whole new world of possibilities have opened up for me. Here are a couple of my favorites.

Powder Room Peacock

I was at my fav store and came across this piece of artwork.

Photobucket

I loved it as soon as I laid eyes on it but had no idea where I could put it. Well what better place than my powder room. Here is a picture of the space. I am thinking about putting it right about the toilet, so you can see it from the hallway and everytime you walk into the powder room.

Photobucket

I am also thinking about painting the walls a mettalic color, but haven't decided yet. Since it is such a small space it would be fun to have a glam spot to prep in the morning. Well actually the powder room functions as my last reference point to look in the mirror before I step out the door (it doesn't have any counter space to really prep).

Seashells by the Sea Shore

I do not have one finished room in the house, not even one semi-finished room. Master bedroom has a bed but no side tables no art. Living room has a sofa and chair, no coffee table, no art. Pretty much every other room in the house is empty. So you would think I would focus on one room so that I can have at least one complete. NO! ...that would make too much sense. In true R. Marie fashion I have started another project....my beach inspired guest room. I am thinking beach chic with understated beach decor. So far this is what I have come up with, I have purchased a few pieces of art work because when I saw them I couldn't resist. Here are the three similar pieces I am going to hang in a series. I don't know if you can tell but the pictures are mirrored. Let me know WDYT?

This is another picture I got for the room, I like it because it evokes a beach feel without the traditional seashell motif.

Every Small Win Counts

Tonight I stopped by my two "go-to" spots for home decor and I was not moved by anything I saw (which is unusual). I think with everything I have going on with business and adjusting from vacay, my inspiration is none exisistence. So.... in an efffort to get my mojo back I am posting my small win to remind me that although small I am making a little progress.
About a week, well maybe for the past few weeks, I was having a serious dilemma over what pillows I wanted for my sofa. The pillows that came with it wasn't exactly what I was looking for and I needed to find a way to add color and pull my fab zebra chair in without being to matchy matchy.

Original Pillows

So what did I come up with? Well first I found these awesome blue and maize (yellow) colored pillows at my "go to". They were originally $150 pillows (according to the manufacturer's website), I got them for $14.99 each. What a steal right? But they only had three.

Photobucket

Well to me the couch looks a little empty with three and was still missing the tie-together elements (to my chair).

So the hunt for pillows that could bring it all together took me back to my "spot" where I found my new pillows. Two pillows for $24.99, but according to the manufacturer's website similar pillows go for $100+ so I would consider these a steal.

What do you think, do they work?

Lost Headboard...FOUND

I ordered the Nate Berkus nailhead headboard from HSN about 4 weeks ago, mind you a good two weeks before I moved thinking that it would arrive on time...well of course that would be too ideal. Well I have been calling HSN for 5 days because the tracking number provided on their website is incorrect and I can't track down the headboard. Fastforward to today, I go to the old apartment to stalk UPS in anticipation of my I-Phone which I lost seven days ago and what do I find at the front door, our California King headboard and it is HUGE. So what to do...I surely can't fit it into my two door car. Thinking fast I went to FedEx Office printed out a label and requested pickup for tomorrow and to have it delivered to the new house. So I am crossing my fingers hoping no one tries to take it in the midnight hour. Here is my little beauty.

Intro...Finally

This blog is essentially my journal...my journey to bringing Soul 2 My Home. Which is not always easy when your inspiration is all over the place and your "money is funny" as my Nana would say. I recently bought a home with my Suga Pops aka my husband and we are essentially starting from scratch. This blog will hopefully keep me motivated in getting the house in "show" condition; (and because I am so random), I will be throwing in a little bit of this and that, which will most like have nothing to do with decorating or home decor....so let's go!!!!
